Inspired by visual artist Louise Bourgeois, Simone Rocha's Fall/Winter 2015 collection was at once darkly romantic and entirely modern. Heavy black velvet and fallen-heroine hair—swept around the neck of models like that of Porphyria in Robert Browning's morbid 19th-century poem—were paired with on-trend bare midriffs. Chenille, woven into scarlet tapestries, was transformed into straight-leg ankle length trousers with matching coats and slippers. And then came a series of asymmetric, Marie Antoinette-in-Braveheart's Scotland, semi-sheer toga-inspired dresses.
