Apartment of an immigrant, 2018

The idea of the project was inspired by the history of a Russian emigrant who moved to Paris at the beginning of the XX century. His grandmother was a Russian ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre, his grandfather was a painter from the Peredvizhniki. The apartment in which he settled was a classical French one with high ceilings, moldings, a fireplace and an oak parquet in French style. He brought the portrait of Nicholas II, the family icons and a few interior items: an old mirror, a bookcase and a bed with him. Nowadays the third generation of the family lives in the apartment. A young grandson of our hero has inherited passion for art from his grandfather and artistry is in his blood. In the antique market Les Puces he bought two busts of Vladimir Lenin and made tables of them. A young man loves contemporary art, especially sculpture. Although he has never been to Russia, he tries to create his idea of it with a slight irony. The palace chandeliers are made of wire, complemented by antique cut glass. On the walls of the children room there are Russian ballerinas on the backdrop of the scenery "Russian Seasons" by Diaghilev.
