Kimamaya Boutique Hotel Japan

Niseko’s first boutique hotel, Kimamaya Hotel fills a very needed niche. Very contemporary, yet still “at home”, it delivers laid-back luxury.
Kimamaya means “be yourself” in Japanese, and when we started this renovation of an outdated pension, we felt it essential to let the original character and history shine through. The first step was to take the building back to the bare framework, and then start all over again. The usage of natural materials always adds to the sensory experience, and for this reason black granite was used extensively instead of more standard tiles. Old posts and beams are featured throughout the building. The color palette is best described as sumptuous: warm grey walls, chocolate wood joinery, rich elm floors, and black granite. Kimamaya Hotel is unique, intimate, and ideal for a Niseko getaway.
